Bullen & Martins (DH 19)
Obv: A key suspended from an iron archway. 1794 PAYABLE AT BULLEN & MARTINS Ex: MARKET PLACE NORWICH
Rev: A plough and shuttle. SUCCESS TO THE PLOUGH AND SHUTTLE
Edge: Plain
Notes:

Bullen & Martin were ironmongers in the Market Place in Norwich. The large key on obverse may indicate that they made keys, along with ornamental iron products.

A shuttle is an instrument used in weaving for passing or shooting the thread of the woof from one side of the cloth to the other between the threads of the warp. Norwich was known for its weaving industry.

The plough alludes to the agriculture of the neighboring countryside and is of a different style than is usually depicted on tokens. According to Bell it was probably a depiction of Tull's four-coltered plough which Bullen & Martins had for sale.

NGC MS-63 RBThis is a beautiful, lustrous, red-brown token imprisoned in plastic by NGC and graded MS-63 RB, which I promptly "cracked out" upon purchase. It's once again "free"!
