Parys Mines Co. (DH 30)
Obv: Portrait of a Druid encircled by an oak wreath.
Rev: WE PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ONE PENNY. The cypher PMCo and date 1787
Edge: ON DEMAND IN LONDON LIVERPOOL OR ANGLESEY.
Notes:

Because of a shortage of small denomination coinage in the late 18th century, the Parys Mines Co. of Anglesey minted this penny token along with farthing and halfpenny tokens to pay their workers. Minted in large quantities, these "coins" became very popular with the public and were readily accepted.

The obverse portrait represents a time when Anglesey was home to the Druids.
